The House of the Dead: Overkill, Wii

This shooter video game is the fifth installment in the House of the Dead series and is a prequel to the first game in the series. Two special agents (G and Isaac Washington) team up together to find a crime lord (Caesar) who is responsible for causing the infection.

When the 2 agents arrive at a house, they find out that Caesar has fled but has already mutated a scientist with an unknown substance. As they go about their mission of finding Caesar, they curse and face plenty of mutated beings along the way. You will also be introduced to Varla, the scientist’s sister who has her own agenda against Caesar. In one of the battles, Caesar escapes with Varla. After entering the hospital, you come across Clement, a warden with a plan of his own, who has strapped Varla and Caesar to electric chairs. Clement reveals that he was the man behind the outbreak and that he was just using Caesar. After leaving the scene, he leaves the 2 agents to face an enhanced mutated convict.

Since the action is completely on rails, the movement of the characters is pre-determined throughout the city. However, aiming the crosshairs towards the edge of the screen offers a slightly different angle. By this, you can collect upgrades such as health kits, grenades, and the “Slow Mo-Fo” mode, which slows time temporarily. With scores assigned at every level, you can buy and upgrade your guns. By accumulating maximum points, you can play 3 mini games and you can also unlock the Directors Cut version of all levels.

The game has been mentioned in the Guinness World Records for having the most number of swearing words. So if you have a liking for excess gore and don’t mind the swearing, you will find this game entertaining with great graphics and numerous unlockables throughout the story.
