Internal hard drive: good storage and performance
In the computer you use, there is an internal hard drive housed within your computer case and linked to its power and data connections. There is at least one internal hard drive in every computer which runs the operating system; an internal backup drive is, however, separate from the main drive. As creating a copy of your data on the same hard drive doesn’t ensure significant data protection, you can install even four drives because most computers have more than one power supply cable and hard drive data connection.
The easiest way to use an internal hard drive as a backup drive is by installing the drive as a secondary drive, or extra storage space, and using some kind of software backup utility for making a copy of the data you have chosen from your main drive. Internal hard drives are inexpensive, fast, and do not clutter up your desktop or get knocked off the printer stand as they are ensconced inside your computer case. Given their costs, they have high capacities as well; it is not uncommon to find 1TB drives on the market.
An internal hard drive offers large storage capabilities, high-quality performance, and the lowest cost per gigabyte. However, before one buys an extra drive for his/her system, it is better to check if there is enough room for that. A smaller, low-profile case won’t be able to use both the old and new drives at the same time. Before buying internal hard drives, you also need to choose between PATA and SATA interfaces.
